About

Meet the artist!

Tommy Vigil shows his work in Santa Fe, NM every Sunday at the Artisans Railyard Market at 1607 Paseo De Peralta (in the Farmer's Market location).

He is a Santa Fe-based artist who specializes in Day of the Dead, mandala, and spray paint-style paintings and crafts. Tommy was born and raised in New Mexico and began drawing at an early age. After high school, he started painting and went on to develop his own technique, which begins with explosive, vibrant backgrounds and ends with finely detailed images that are joyfully macabre. Today, his artwork is a celebration of fantasy inspired by tattoos, comic books, cartoons, graffiti, and modern mysticism.

While living in Escondido, California, Tommy displayed his paintings at the Escondido Municipal Art Gallery in several juried exhibitions in the early 2000's. He was also honored to display a few of his works in an exhibition in La Bufadora, Mexico. Tommy has also shown his work around Santa Fe, NM for several years.

Tommy is inspired by the Spanish surrealist master Salvador Dali and the dreamlike landscapes and psychedelic visions of "lowbrow" pioneer artist Robert Williams.

Acrylic paint is Tommy's primary medium, but he also enjoys working with oils, pencils, pens, spray paint, colored pencils, and anything else he can find. His talents also extend to music, photography, video, and poetry.

Tommy's artwork is evocative and edgy, and his purpose is to lead viewers to formulate stories of their own.
